HAMMOND, La. – ?Southeastern Louisiana University Head Baseball Coach Matt Riser announced the restructuring of his coaching staff Monday, including a promotion for Ford Pemberton and the addition of Lion alum Derrick Mount.

Pemberton, who joined the staff last fall, will now serve as Southeastern's recruiting coordinator in addition to his duties as hitting coach. A senior captain on the Lions' 2017 NCAA Regional squad, Mount returns to SLU as assistant coach and camp coordinator.
The duo joins pitching coach Gerry Salisbury who enters his third season on Riser's staff.
Pemberton was also a huge reason behind the Lions' success on the back end of the year. The Lions offense ranked in the program's Top 10 in doubles, triples and home runs in his first season.
"To hire someone full time is a difficult process sometimes," Riser said. "This was an easy hire, no brainer for us."
Pemberton takes over recruiting duties from Andrew Gipson who left the program to pursue opportunities in private business in his home state of Alabama.
Mount rejoins the program after spending the last three seasons as the pitching coach at Southwest Mississippi Community College in Summit, Mississippi.
"I wanted to hire a former player," Riser said "I had two guys targeted and was fortunate enough to get Coach Mount to say yes. He understands the vision. Obviously, he spent many years here playing."
