The play draws its premise from a series of short stories published in Hanks’ 2017 collection Uncommon Type. Set at the close of the 21st century, the narrative follows a lonely scientist named Bert Allenberry. Theatergoers who caught the sold-out eight-week engagement at The Shed’s Griffin Theater in late 2025 will see a familiar creative lineup.
