Scotland Stuns France, Six Nations Title Race Goes Down to the Wire

EDINBURGH, Scotland – A remarkable display of attacking rugby saw Scotland defeat France 50-40 in Edinburgh on Saturday, throwing the Six Nations Championship wide open and ensuring the title will be decided in the final round of matches next weekend.

The pulsating, high-scoring encounter at a sun-drenched Scottish Gas Murrayfield saw Scotland secure a bonus point with seven tries, their highest ever points tally against France. Wings Darcy Graham and Kyle Steyn each touched down twice, while prop Pierre Schoeman and scrumhalf Ben White also crossed the line for the home side.

Despite the loss, France remain at the top of the Six Nations table on points difference, level with Scotland on 16 points after five games. Ireland are still in contention, trailing with 14 points.

The French side, aiming for a Grand Slam, scored five tries of their own through wings Louis Bielle-Biarrey and Theo Attissogbe, scrumhalf Antoine Dupont, fullback Thomas Ramos (two), and flanker Oscar Jegou. However, coach Fabien Galthié will be concerned by his team’s discipline, which saw two players receive yellow cards, and their inability to withstand Scotland’s relentless pressure.

The victory marks a significant moment for Scottish rugby, demonstrating their growing competitiveness on the international stage. The outcome underscores the increasingly unpredictable nature of the Six Nations, a tournament steeped in tradition and fiercely contested by Europe’s leading rugby nations.
