Quand Gene Simmons, Ace FrehleyPaul Stanley et Peter Criss Après avoir formé Kiss en 1973, ils voulaient créer le groupe qu’ils ont toujours voulu voir. Ils voulaient le meilleur, alors ils ont essayé de créer le meilleur et Kiss a déjà dit que leur idée était de créer quelque chose comme « Les Beatles sous stéroïdes », avec chaque membre du groupe chantant quelques morceaux.

Kiss a réussi à le faire sur la formation classique car outre Gene et Paul, qui étaient les principaux chanteurs principaux, Ace et Peter étaient également les chanteurs de nombreux morceaux, même s’il a fallu quelques années à Frehley pour prendre confiance et enfin chanter. Dans les formations suivantes d’autres membres comme Eric Carr, Éric Chanteur et Tommy Thayer ont également eu la chance de chanter.
