PETiTOM : Du succès à la comédie musicale Molière, l’artiste polyvalent aux multiples talents

Tommy Tremblay, better known as PETiTOM, has a talent to spare. Since his appearance on Mixmania 2, La Voix and Révolution, success has been following him. Joël Lemay / Agence QMI More recently, the versatile artist landed the lead role in the musical comedy Molière, presented at the Dôme de Paris. “We’ve been working on this show for 8 months and presenting it for a few weeks now, and we’ve only been receiving praise,” he assures. In fact, several spectators have expressed a desire to become reacquainted with the works of this French language icon after witnessing this moving performance. “For me, it’s the most beautiful musical comedy,” says one spectator in a voxpop circulating on social media. “Everything about it moved me.” “It took courage to present Molière in this way, it’s very powerful and very successful,” says another. Touched by these testimonials from spectators, PETiTOM affirms that the goal of presenting this show was to “reinvent the musical comedy”, which, according to him, explains the emotional impact on the audience. “Normally, it’s just music, and in this case, we went towards rap, slam, singing and dancing,” he says emotionally. “As someone who grew up with hip-hop culture, I feel right at home with this show.” Thorough preparation The artist did not initially audition for the lead role and had to prepare to interpret Molière when he finally landed the role. PETiTOM had to study the French playwright in depth, but also modify his diction to remain true to the character. “I read his works, I went to the Comédie-Française to see plays,” he explains. “I’ve absorbed it.” AFP Although there is a significant collection of writings, PETiTOM, along with his director, realized that there was very little information about Molière’s personal life, making it difficult to study the character. “So we built a Molière as we imagined him, and a Molière for modern times,” he says. “We have a Molière who does acrobatics, who dances, but we got as close as possible to his true story.” AFP An album in preparation PETiTOM’s roadmap illustrates his desire to play on several fronts at once, both as a singer and as a dancer. However, of these passions, it is music that occupies him the most. The young multidisciplinary artist is currently preparing an album that will be released soon. “We shout our lives in music,” he says. “I have a lot of things to say in this album and that’s why I’m taking my time too.” Watch the full interview in the above video.
