Pelosi a offert un drapeau américain à Zelenskiy en retour.

Zelenskiy a fait référence à plusieurs reprises aux batailles de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, qui étaient probablement stratégiques – un rappel que ce qui est en jeu est la politique mondiale, pas seulement la liberté de l’Ukraine.

Les décisions prises par ces législateurs pourraient sauver « des millions de vies », dit-il.

Zelenskiy présente un drapeau ukrainien à la présidente de la Chambre Pelosi. Il y a divers messages écrits sur le drapeau – on ne sait pas de qui, mais je suppose que cela vient des troupes.

Zelenskiy cite Franklin D. Roosevelt.

“Le peuple américain dans sa juste puissance gagnera jusqu’à la victoire absolue”, dit-il. “Je vous le dis : le peuple ukrainien gagnera aussi : absolument.”

“Maintenant, en cette période spéciale de Noël, je tiens à vous remercier, vous tous. Je remercie chaque famille américaine qui chérit la chaleur de sa maison et souhaite la même chaleur à notre peuple », a déclaré Zelenskiy.

Un rappel qu’une partie de son travail consiste aujourd’hui à convaincre les républicains qui sont de plus en plus frustrés par le niveau d’assistance de le poursuivre lorsqu’ils prendront la Chambre le 3 janvier.

“Nous fêtons Noël, et même s’il n’y a pas d’électricité, la lumière de notre foi ne s’éteindra pas”, déclare Zelenskiy.

“Les Ukrainiens continueront de s’asseoir à table et de s’encourager les uns les autres.”

“Nous savons que nous tous, des millions d’Ukrainiens, souhaitons la même chose : la victoire, rien que la victoire.”

« Mesdames et messieurs, Américains. Dans deux jours, nous fêterons Noël, peut-être aux chandelles. Pas parce que c’est romantique, mais parce qu’il n’y a pas d’électricité. Des millions de personnes n’auront ni chauffage ni eau », déclare Zelenskiy.

« Mais nous ne nous plaignons pas. Nous ne jugeons pas ou ne nous plaignons pas de ceux qui ont la vie la plus facile… nous, les Ukrainiens, traverserons notre guerre pour l’indépendance et la liberté avec dignité et succès.

Zelenskiy a appelé les États-Unis à renforcer les sanctions et à «traduire en justice tous ceux qui ont déclenché cette guerre injuste et non provoquée».
