UN Report Accuses Israel of Driving Mass Displacement in West Bank
RAMALLAH, West Bank – A new report from the UN Human Rights Office released Tuesday alleges Israel is accelerating settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, leading to the forced displacement of over 36,000 Palestinians and raising concerns of potential “ethnic cleansing.”
The report details increasing violence perpetrated by both Israeli security forces and settlers against Palestinian communities. It highlights the unlawful expansion of settlements and annexation of Palestinian land as key drivers of the displacement.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres previously voiced grave concern in February regarding new Israeli measures in Areas A and B of the West Bank, signaling a further erosion of prospects for a two-state solution.
The UN Human Rights Office report underscores the escalating humanitarian situation and the urgent need for accountability. The findings come amid heightened tensions in the region and growing international scrutiny of Israeli policies in the occupied territories.
