Man Arrested in Mississippi Years After Alleged Infant Rape
JACKSON, Mississippi – Isiah Hayes, 27, has been arrested in Jackson, Mississippi, six years after being indicted on charges of aggravated child rape, conspiracy to commit aggravated child rape, and especially aggravated solicitation of a minor. The arrest, made Friday, brings a close to a multi-year manhunt following an alleged attack in 2020.
Hayes was apprehended by the Jackson Police Department with assistance from the United States Marshals Service. Officers located him at a housing complex and took him into custody in a doorway.
“Their partnership and unwavering commitment to the safety of the citizens of Jackson and the broader West Tennessee region remain vital in removing violent offenders from our streets,” the Jackson Police Department stated.
The case originated in Shelby County, Tennessee, where Hayes was 17 years old at the time of the alleged assault. The victim was nine months old.
Investigators utilized Flock Safety technology – a network of AI-powered license plate readers and surveillance tools – to identify a vehicle associated with Hayes and track his movements over several days. The technology captured the vehicle’s plates, make, model, and color, ultimately leading to his location in Jackson.
Hayes is currently being held in Madison County Jail awaiting extradition to Shelby County. Bond information and a future court date have not yet been released.
