Louise Lhermitte, her real name, chose the pseudonym “Lonny” as a nod to the adjective “alone”, which means “seule” in French. A paradox for the French singer who started music surrounded by others.
At the age of seven, she discovered the viola, then the guitar. A few years later, at the age of fifteen, she was mesmerized by Patti Smith’s concert. A performance that instilled in her a visceral desire to make music her career. She then started performing in a duo with Guillaume Charret under the name Lonny Montem.
It wasn’t until 2022 that the author, composer and performer decided to release her first solo album called “Ex-voto”. An intimate and melancholic gem with captivating sound.

The need for solitude
The Parisian singer had long dreamed of venturing out by herself. “Music is where I have always felt like I exist. And writing centers me. But to compose lyrics and melodies, I need to be alone. It’s a way for me to be sincere with my audience,” Lonny tells RTS.
A modern heir to 70s folk, Lonny sings with an elegant and delicate voice, ballads full of sweetness and charm, with magnetic virtues. For her first performance at the Cully Jazz Festival, she takes on the challenge of acoustics and will offer guitar-voice versions of her little gems such as “Avril Exil”, “Incandescente” or “Hosanna”.
