WABetaInfo, the site specialized in the new features of WhatsApp betas, announces the arrival of several major innovations.
Data transfer nearby
One of the most interesting features that we should logically see arrive in February is the ability to transfer files to nearby devices using Bluetooth. A technology that we already know, as both Apple and Android have introduced similar systems.
With this new feature, WhatsApp should offer a way to transfer much more confidential data, to be used if you are connected to dubious or insecure networks.
The feature should arrive fairly quickly. So, we can expect it to arrive in February, although it is not completely impossible that we will see it arrive at the end of January, or on the contrary in early March.
Polls on channels
While WhatsApp had introduced channels in the style of Telegram, there were still a few features missing to allow optimal communication in them. Among these: polls. A feature that already existed in WhatsApp groups last year, but not yet in channels.
The feature was announced in the middle of the month, so it should not be long in coming. Therefore, we can logically expect to see it arrive in February.
And this is not the only feature that WhatsApp is preparing for channels. Mark Zuckerberg himself made several announcements which were relayed by WABetaInfo: voice notes for administrators, the ability to promote multiple admins, etc.
Text formatting tool
This feature should not be long in coming, as the testing phase started at the beginning of the month: text formatting. WhatsApp should soon allow the use of new formats for text such as code block, quotation, bullet points, or numbering.
Channel transfer
Still for channels, and in the logical continuation of the feature that allows the addition of multiple administrators, there should soon be a function allowing the transfer of ownership of a channel to another owner.
It remains to be seen whether this feature, which is still in development and has not been revealed to beta testers, will be released in February, or will take a little more time before being available to everyone.
