Katsura Hashino (director of Persona 3, Persona 4 & Persona 5), Shigenori Soejima (art director of Catherine, P3, P4, P5, Sakura Wars) and Shoji Meguro (composer/arranger of Trauma Team, Catherine, Persona 3, Persona 4 Golden, Persona 5): a trio of choice for this new artistic direction which is undeniably different from the trilogy that allowed the trio to make a name for themselves. If the first announcement video had the gift of affirming this new approach for the newly created Studio Zero, this presentation dedicated to the Game Awards was also an opportunity to stand out in terms of gameplay.
Autumn, and it’s not a metaphor
So here we are in a kind of uncommon hybrid between Action/RPG and turn-based RPG, with the possibility of launching a more tactical confrontation with the simple press of a button (early fans of Kuro No Kiseki will not fail to see similarities). This new video also shows that the “slice of life” parts that made the success of Atlus’s flagship spin-off will also be part of the game (with a particular emphasis on cooking). And since good news never comes alone, this trailer also gives a release window, with an approximate date set for autumn 2024. As a reminder, despite some false suspense, Atlus has also been able to confirm that the game will be available on PS5, PS4 and Steam, in addition to the Xbox platforms for which Metaphor: ReFantazio was originally announced.
