Born in Seville in 1976, Fahmi Alqhai came to early music by roundabout means. After living for some time in Syria, where his father is from, the young man returned to Andalusia. A renowned gambist, he played for ten years in Jordi Savall’s orchestra Hespèrion XXI. Leading his Accademia del Piacere, he comes to the Lausanne Bach Festival for a concert entitled Splendors of Spain.
