Global Affairs said in a statement that its Registration of Canadians Abroad service indicates that there are 820 registered Canadians in Nepal and five registered Canadians in the Tibetan Autonomous Region of China. However, the department said those numbers provide only an estimate of Canadians in the region as registration is voluntary. Prabhath Sajeepa, another US citizen who went missing after the flood hit, was one of the 77 people travelling with the Isha Foundation. Sajeepa works for a software company in California, and has been involved with the Isha Foundation for a few years, according to his niece, who lives in Germany. At least 72 people died and nearly 500, including 133 Indians, were missing after a torrential flash flood originating in Tibet swept through central Nepal districts, causing devastation in towns and villages, washing away bridges and damaging at least a dozen hydropower projects on Wednesday. The floodwaters subsequently spread to Nuwakot and Chitwan districts, damaging at least four permanent bridges and several temporary ones. Families of stranded individuals in Nepal are expressing concerns following devastating flash floods in Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts, which left at least 165 people dead and hundreds missing. Among those affected is Shivaranjini, a tourist from Tamil Nadu travelling as part of a group, who remains stranded in Nepal. Her husband, Muthunathan, expressed hope that the central Government would ensure her safe rescue. Speaking to ANI, Muthunathan said his wife told him that the group was nearing the Tibet border on August 26 around 9 am when they heard a loud sound.
