Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) did not go further than Q2 during the qualifying session of the Canadian Grand Prix on Saturday, June 17, 2023. The Monegasque driver suffered from a faulty strategy from the Ferrari pit wall.

On a drying track, Charles Leclerc had asked to put on soft slick tires right from the start of Q2. This request was repeated but invalidated by the engineers of the Reds, who preferred to use intermediate tires.
However, when the rain reappeared, Ferrari finally agreed to change the tires on the car. Unfortunately, it was too late to hope to improve his time as the track became too wet. Plus, the new tires were not ready when the French-speaking driver returned to his pit!

Interviewed by Canal+, Charles Leclerc did his best to contain his frustration. “We will have a discussion, it needs to stay within the team. I am really not happy today, once again. Other drivers did the same as me and still made it to Q3.
It creates frustration. We need to be better than that, but I’ve been saying that for a long time. I hope to be listened to a bit more in the future.”
Charles Leclerc set the 11th fastest time in qualifying.
