US Military Reports Nearly 200 Wounded in Middle East Amidst Conflict with Iran
Manama, Bahrain – Approximately 200 U.S. military personnel have been wounded in seven Middle Eastern countries since the start of the U.S.-Israel military campaign against Iran, according to a statement Monday from U.S. Central Command.
Captain Tim Hawkins, a spokesman for the command, stated that the majority of injuries were minor, with over 180 troops already returning to duty. However, ten service members have been categorized as seriously wounded.
The injuries occurred in Bahrain, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
This figure represents an increase from the Pentagon’s reported number of around 140 wounded on March 10. To date, thirteen U.S. troops have been killed – seven in attacks and six in a plane crash in Iraq.
The conflict began on February 28 with a large-scale air campaign launched by U.S. and Israeli forces targeting Iran. Tehran has since responded with missile and drone attacks directed at countries hosting U.S. forces or bases in the region.
The ongoing hostilities raise concerns about escalating regional instability and potential impacts on global energy markets. The U.S. and Israel have stated their intent to degrade Iran’s military capabilities, while Iran has vowed retaliation for any further attacks.
This report comes as international observers continue to assess the evolving situation and call for de-escalation.
