Nutrition365 – For a healthy and accessible diet for all
On the occasion of World Food Day on October 16, 2023, several actors in the health and food industry have sounded the alarm to demand action from the government in favor of a healthy and sustainable diet accessible to all.

While the European Commission has confirmed the postponement of several key legislative texts related to sustainable food from the Green Deal, Christel Teyssedre, the president of Aprifel*, and the co-chairs of the EGEAE conference, Elio Riboli, professor of epidemiology and cancer prevention at Imperial College London, and Joël Doré, research director at Inrae, are calling for real action from the government.
Faced with a clear diagnosis, they particularly stress the urgency of acting and adopting common and proactive strategies for nutrition and health for everyone and the planet.
Real prevention
Indeed, the climate crisis, uncontrolled increase in obesity and chronic diseases, lack of food and nutrition education, lack of accessibility to healthy food, harmful influence of marketing, etc. are all phenomena that require quick and early action, shifting from a “curative/repair” logic to real prevention, both in terms of health and sustainability.
According to the authors, French and European food and health systems must jointly propose an innovative prevention plan on social, environmental, and public health levels. Ultimately, the simplest and most obvious choice for individuals should also be the same for the planet.
