In 2022, Paul Sams, the head of Certain Affinity, explained that his studio was working with 100 developers on something “big and new for the franchise.”

But time passed and this Halo battle royale was never officially confirmed. Worse, we now learn that the project known as “Project Tatanka” has now been scrapped.

As a reminder, Certain Affinity studio has assisted 343 Industries multiple times, notably during the development of Halo Infinite.

Regardless, Halo fans who were hoping for a battle royale in this universe will soon be consoled with the season 2 of the TV series. Furthermore, this project cancellation echoes the cancellation of the multiplayer for The Last of Us.
