British Tourist Missing in Tenerife After Birthday Night Out
Playa de las Américas, Tenerife – A British man has been reported missing in Tenerife after disappearing following a night out celebrating his birthday. Raif, 25, was last seen leaving Tramps nightclub in Playa de las Américas around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 22nd.
Friends and family reported him missing after he failed to make contact for over 24 hours, an unusual occurrence according to a statement released by Missing Persons Tenerife.
Raif, described as 5ft 10in with a slim build, was wearing a purple Nike T-shirt, matching shorts, and a cap at the time of his disappearance. He has two face tattoos, one of which was newly applied on Saturday.
Investigators are focusing on a Snapchat message Raif sent to a friend around 7:15 a.m. Sunday. The message indicated he was inside a hotel with an unidentified man.
“Sunday was Raif’s birthday – he hasn’t been in touch with anyone back home and there’s been no social media activity which is highly unusual for him,” a spokesperson for Missing Persons Tenerife stated. “Last seen on Snapchat story… in good spirits.”
Authorities are appealing to anyone with information regarding Raif’s whereabouts to come forward. The case highlights the risks tourists face, even in popular resort areas, and underscores the importance of remaining vigilant while abroad. Tenerife, a popular destination for British tourists, sees over 5 million visitors annually, according to data from the Tenerife Tourism Corporation.
The investigation is ongoing.
