Gulf States Condemn Iranian Attacks, Demand Halt to Regional Aggression

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) – A coalition of Gulf Arab nations and regional partners issued a strong condemnation of recent Iranian attacks targeting neighboring countries, concluding a summit in Saudi Arabia on Thursday with a unified call for de-escalation. The participating nations emphasized that continued aggression threatens regional stability and cannot be justified.

The joint statement specifically denounced the use of ballistic missiles and drones by Iran, citing attacks on civilian infrastructure including residential areas, oil facilities, desalination plants, airports, and diplomatic missions.

The summit, hosted by Saudi Arabia, drew representatives from Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates. The collective denunciation signals a heightened level of concern and a united front against what member states perceive as escalating Iranian provocations.

While the statement did not detail specific retaliatory measures, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud recently warned that the Gulf’s patience with Iran is “not unlimited,” according to reports from Al Jazeera. This suggests a growing frustration with repeated attacks and a potential shift towards a firmer response if the situation does not improve.

The unified stance comes as Iran faces increasing international scrutiny for its regional activities. Gulf states have largely opted for restraint in the face of attacks, prioritizing diplomatic solutions, but the recent summit indicates a growing consensus that Iran’s actions require a stronger response.

Recent reports indicate that despite the attacks, Gulf states are currently prioritizing de-escalation over military confrontation, according to officials cited by Fox News. However, the warning from the Saudi Foreign Minister underscores the delicate balance between restraint and the need to protect national interests.
