Il est désormais certain que la Suède votera en faveur de la version révisée du projet de loi controversé sur le contrôle des chats au Conseil des ministres de l’UE, a révélé le journaliste Emanuel Karlsten. SVT rapporte que la commission de la justice a soutenu hier le projet de loi, mais que seuls le parti du centre et les démocrates suédois s’y sont opposés.

Le projet de loi sera désormais préparé au niveau européen, où il semble que la loi sera votée par le Conseil des ministres. Aftonbladet rapporte qu’avec le revirement de la France sur la question, ils étaient auparavant contre le projet de loi, la minorité de blocage au Conseil des ministres disparaît.
Le Chat Control, ou Établir des règles pour prévenir et combattre les abus sexuels contre les enfants, a été présenté en 2022 par la commissaire européenne suédoise Ylva Johansson et visait à l’origine à protéger les enfants en ligne et à empêcher la diffusion de matériel sexuel impliquant des enfants.
Le projet de loi a cependant fait l’objet d’énormes critiques, car il donne aux gouvernements et aux autorités d’énormes possibilités de surveiller les conversations privées des gens et d’examiner, entre autres, le contenu des discussions.
“Nous mettons en balance cet intérêt avec le fait que de nombreuses personnes doivent avoir accès à des services de communication cryptés. Par exemple, les personnes vulnérables et les mouvements démocratiques”, déclare Ulrika Liljeberg, porte-parole du Parti du centre en matière de politique juridique, à SVT à propos de l’équilibre entre la protection des enfants et la préservation de l’intégrité des autres citoyens.
