Kuwait Hosts Photography & Creative Content Forum, Boosting Local Industry

KUWAIT CITY – The Scientific Center of Kuwait, a leading institution dedicated to scientific advancement, is currently hosting a photography and creative content forum, running until January 20th. The event, a collaboration with Fashionet, aims to nurture burgeoning talent and bolster Kuwait’s growing creative industries.

The forum provides a dynamic platform for both professional and amateur photographers, as well as content creators, featuring an exhibition of the latest photography equipment and technologies. Attendees can also participate in a series of interactive workshops and panel discussions.

“This event underscores our commitment to supporting the creative industries and empowering Kuwaiti youth and content creators,” said Mohammed Al-Senousi, Deputy Director General for Visitor Experience at the Scientific Center, in a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA). “We aim to provide interactive platforms that combine knowledge, practical experience, and direct engagement with experts and modern technologies.”

The initiative aligns with Kuwait’s broader national strategy to diversify its economy beyond oil, with a growing emphasis on the creative sector. According to a 2023 report by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), investment in creative industries globally reached $2.3 trillion, representing 3% of the world’s GDP. While specific data for Kuwait’s creative sector is still developing, the government has signaled its intent to capitalize on this global trend.

The forum’s program includes specialized lectures on content creation, cinematic photography, digital advertising, and the integration of artificial intelligence in visual production. Workshops will focus on product photography, creating short-form video content (Reels), filmmaking, and utilizing AI-powered tools like Photoshop for image and video generation.

The Scientific Center highlighted its vision of offering visitors unique experiences that extend beyond traditional exhibitions, embracing fields like photography, visual production, and AI. This reflects a broader global trend of museums and scientific institutions evolving into hubs for innovation and creative expression.

The event is expected to attract a diverse audience, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing within Kuwait’s creative community. The Scientific Center’s support for such initiatives is seen as a key driver in developing the skills of the next generation and opening new opportunities for talented individuals in the creative fields.
