Kansas Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Unprovoked Park Stabbing
OLATHE, Kansas – A 27-year-old Kansas man is in custody and facing attempted first-degree murder charges following a shocking knife attack on a woman at Two Trails Park in Olathe on Thursday. The victim, identified as 38-year-old Jamie Trumpp, a choir teacher at Indian Trail Middle School, is expected to survive her injuries.
Kwan Noble Trezvant was apprehended after police responded to reports of an armed disturbance around 12:06 p.m. near the 1000 block of North Ridgeview Road. Authorities say the assault appeared “completely unprovoked.” Trumpp sustained significant stab wounds to the face and was immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment.
According to court documents, Trezvant allegedly sliced Trumpp with a knife. The Johnson County District Attorney’s Office has filed charges alleging Trezvant acted “unlawfully, feloniously, intentionally and with premeditation” in attempting to kill Trumpp.
Trezvant made an initial court appearance on Friday and is currently being held on a $500,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 26.
This incident has deeply impacted the Olathe community. Friends and colleagues of Trumpp have organized a meal train fundraiser to support her and her family during her recovery, according to the Olathe Reporter.
Trezvant’s criminal history includes a 2024 conviction for misdemeanor battery of a law enforcement officer, resulting in a nearly four-month jail sentence. He also pleaded guilty to obstructing the legal process and possession of drug paraphernalia in 2020.
The Olathe Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack. This case highlights the ongoing concerns regarding violent crime and public safety, prompting a renewed focus on community resources and support systems.
