Family of Missing Arizona Woman Pleads for Public’s Help, Six Weeks After Disappearance
Tucson, Arizona – The family of Nancy Guthrie, 84, mother of “TODAY” co-host Savannah Guthrie, issued a heartfelt plea Saturday for the Tucson community’s continued assistance in locating her, six weeks after she was reported missing. The family expressed deep gratitude for the support received thus far, emphasizing the importance of any potential clue, no matter how small.
Guthrie was last seen on the evening of January 31st near her Tucson home. Authorities have since investigated her disappearance as a suspected abduction, discovering traces of her blood on the porch, leading investigators to believe she was the victim of a targeted crime.
“We are deeply grateful for the outpouring from neighbors, friends and the people of Tucson. We are all family now,” the Guthrie family shared with NBC affiliate KVOA during a special report aired Saturday.
Investigators have focused on specific dates – January 11th, January 31st, and February 1st – requesting residents review security camera footage and recall any observations from those days. The family echoed this request, urging anyone with information, including journal entries, text messages, or recollections of conversations, to come forward.
“It’s possible a member of this community has information that they do not even realize is significant,” the family stated. “No detail is too small. It may be the key.”
Law enforcement is currently seeking a person of interest, having released images of a masked individual captured on doorbell surveillance. The FBI is assisting in the investigation and is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to Nancy Guthrie’s safe return, adding to the $1 million reward offered by the Guthrie family.
Flowers and notes of encouragement have been placed at Guthrie’s home, a testament to the community’s concern.
“We miss our mom with every breath and we cannot be in peace until she is home,” the family said in their message to KVOA. “We cannot grieve; we can only ache and wonder. Our focus is solely on finding her and bringing her home.”
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department continues to lead the investigation, with support from the FBI. Anyone with information is urged to contact authorities.
