Miracle : De la leucémie à une vie dédiée à la foi

Mother’s Intuition Leads to Son’s Leukemia Diagnosis, Remarkable Recovery

Virginia Beach, Va. – What began as preparation for a family move turned into a harrowing medical ordeal for the Cortman family, culminating in a miraculous recovery for their son, Cameron. A mother’s unwavering belief that something was gravely wrong with her one-year-old son, despite initial assurances from a doctor, ultimately led to a life-saving diagnosis of leukemia.

Cameron Cortman, now 24, recounts the story as a testament to faith and the power of listening to one’s intuition. “I don’t know how you could hear my story and my testimony and not believe that there is a God,” he said.

The family was preparing to relocate to Virginia Beach in 2001 when young Cameron developed an ear infection. A visit to the doctor initially pointed to a routine ailment, with antibiotics prescribed. However, Cameron’s mother felt a deep-seated conviction that the infection was masking a more serious condition.

In a move that defied conventional medical protocol at the time, she shared with the doctor that she felt she had received a divine warning. Remarkably, the doctor, a Christian himself, acknowledged the possibility and authorized an ambulance to transport Cameron to the hospital for further testing.

The results were devastating. Tests revealed that 95% of Cameron’s blood cells were cancerous. Doctors delivered the grim prognosis that he likely wouldn’t survive the night.

“As you can imagine, it’s just a mix of utter disbelief, and shock, and starting to grieve, and really just confusion of what to do,” Cameron Cortman explained.

What followed were four years of intense chemotherapy and hospital stays. Throughout the ordeal, the family leaned heavily on their faith and the support of their community. Cameron’s mother and father remained steadfast in their belief that their son would recover.

Against all odds, the cancer eventually went into remission. But the story doesn’t end there. Doctors cautioned the family that the chemotherapy could have lasting effects, potentially impacting Cameron’s ability to speak or walk.

However, Cameron made a full recovery, defying those predictions. He went on to become a college athlete and now works as the director of digital marketing at Great American Media, a company focused on faith and family-friendly programming.

“What’s crazy about that situation — other than the fact that I was completely cured from cancer — is they said to my parents, ‘Although he is cancer free, he’s not out of the woods,’” Cameron Cortman said. “To go from that to where I am today… it’s just only God.”

Cortman views his role at Great American Media as an extension of his personal mission, using his skills to promote positive and uplifting content. He emphasizes the importance of providing families with safe and wholesome entertainment options.

The Cortman family’s story serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of trusting one’s instincts, the strength of faith, and the potential for miraculous healing.
