iRocket teste avec succès son missile iRX-100 anti-drones

New Missile System Aims to Bolster Counter-Drone Capabilities

Hauppauge, NY – A U.S.-based defense contractor, iRocket, has successfully tested its iRX-100 missile, a new system designed to counter unmanned aerial systems (UAS), reaching speeds of Mach 2 and a range of approximately 6 kilometers, the company announced March 9th. The test utilized a launcher provided by Arnold Defense, validating the compatibility and performance of the integrated system.

The iRX-100 program focuses on delivering a scalable counter-UAS capability that works with existing 70-millimeter launcher systems already deployed by the U.S. military and allied forces. This approach aims to rapidly enhance defenses against drones without requiring costly and time-consuming infrastructure upgrades.

“Today’s successful iRX-100 demonstration with Arnold Defense’s launcher proves we can deliver a modern, scalable counter-UAS effect with speed and repeatability,” said Asad Malik, CEO of iRocket, in a statement. “We’re rebuilding the arsenal of freedom by combining high-rate manufacturing, robotics-driven quality, and a partner ecosystem that can surge production when the mission demands it.”

Arnold Defense, a manufacturer of 2.75-inch (70-millimeter) rocket launchers, sees the collaboration as a way to extend the capabilities of a widely used system. “We are excited to be working with iRocket as they bring needed improved capability to the 2.75in./70mm rocket,” said Frank Ferrante, Vice President of Programs and Business Development at Arnold Defense and Electronics.

The development of the iRX-100 comes as the demand for effective counter-drone technology increases globally. Former U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross, a member of iRocket’s board of directors, highlighted the growing need for interceptors, stating, “Every day, we and our allies are using up their inventories of small missiles to intercept drones… iRocket’s recent launch successes prove its qualifications to meet the demand.”

iRocket is also preparing for a public listing in 2026 and has secured a position on the Missile Defense Agency’s SHIELD contract vehicle, a potential $151 billion program supporting homeland missile defense technologies. The company has also established international partnerships, including a $640 million agreement with Saudi Arabia’s Spacebelt, signaling a broader market for the new missile system.

The company is also investing in advanced manufacturing processes, incorporating robotics to improve production consistency and throughput, as it prepares to meet potential demand.
