Munich, April 10, 2025 – When using AI in development and production, many companies are still in the orientation phase. “Although they would like to jump on the AI train, it is often difficult for them to identify valuable use cases and achieve tangible results,” says Marc Vidal from Cadfem Germany GmbH in the run-up to this year’s Nafems World Congress, which takes place in Salzburg from May 19 to May 22nd. In a lecture there, Vidal will explain using examples from fluid dynamics and process automation how the implementation of AI can be optimized in the simulation process.
“It is crucial to proceed in the correct order, i.e. starting with a solid business case and the selection of suitable technology,” says Vidal in advance. A “efficient and understandable integration” of AI-based tools and methods in the existing development process is also important. Dealing with a limited number of training data and various data sources are other typical challenges.
“From the method to scaling integration into the development process, everything is available and is already established in use,” says Vidal, who works as an architect digital engineering solutions at CADFEM. “The combination of AI with technical expertise leads to considerable progress. It enables a safer and faster offer phase and allows time -consuming development steps to accelerate.”
Ultimately, KI in the simulation is a key to a “Shift Left” approach, in which tests are used in the development process earlier and thus also various product or process variants are examined earlier. “The integration of AI thus brings an enormous acceleration in the decision -making process and is the step we need to be able to counter the current challenges for our innovative strength.”
The Nafem’s World Congress has been taking place internationally for two years since 1987, most recently in Florida (USA). With over 300 technical presentations, training courses and workshops as well as an extensive exhibition on the subject of simulation, it is the largest international conference that deals exclusively with engineering simulation. It offers a platform for the international exchange of software providers, consultants, academics, industrial companies and users. Cadfem and Ansys are on site with a large information stand. Nafems was founded in Great Britain in 1983 and is considered the leading international society to promote computational simulation.
