STAR Hospitals : Nouveau protocole d’urgence pour sauver des vies en Inde

Indian Hospital Standardizes Emergency Care with Global Protocols

Hyderabad, India – In a country where access to swift, standardized emergency medical care can be a matter of life and death, STAR Hospitals in Nanakramguda, Hyderabad, has launched a comprehensive emergency protocol handbook designed to streamline treatment and improve patient outcomes. The initiative coincides with the hospital reaching a milestone of 1.5 million minutes of emergency service provided.

The “ED Protocol Handbook” isn’t simply a collection of procedures; it’s the culmination of an intensive global study, integrating best practices from the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, and other nations, according to hospital officials. These international standards have been adapted to address the specific clinical needs and demographics of the Indian population.

“In a rapidly growing city like Hyderabad, having the best technology is only half the battle,” explained Dr. Rahul Katta, Group Lead for the Emergency Department at STAR Hospitals. “The real lifesaver is a standardized guideline that makes every minute count.”

The hospital’s commitment to rapid response extends beyond its walls. STAR Hospitals’ ambulances are equipped to function as mobile emergency rooms, with paramedics initiating life-saving interventions – including oxygen support, cardiac monitoring, and airway management – while en route. Crucially, these paramedics are guided by emergency physicians and specialists through real-time virtual consultation, sharing vital signs and receiving expert direction before the patient even arrives at the hospital.

This integrated approach aims to minimize delays during the “Golden Hour” – the critical first hour after a traumatic injury – and ensure a seamless handover from ambulance to emergency room. The newly released handbook further reinforces this continuity of care.

The handbook’s unveiling was attended by Sri. Ranjan Rathan Kumar, Dy. Commissioner of Police (Traffic Cyberabad), alongside STAR Hospitals leadership including Dr. Gopichand Mannam (Managing Director), Dr. Ramesh Gudapati (Joint Managing Director), and Dr. Rahul Medakkar (CEO).

Hospital leadership emphasized the importance of perfecting every step of the emergency process, acknowledging the challenges patients face navigating traffic and accessing timely medical attention. “Our goal is to ensure that once they reach us, the care they receive is world-class, immediate, and beyond reproach,” they stated.

The initiative reflects a growing global focus on standardized emergency protocols to improve survival rates and reduce disability following traumatic events. While specific national statistics on emergency care outcomes in India were not provided, the hospital’s move signals a commitment to aligning with international benchmarks and elevating the standard of care available to its patients.
