Sanremo Festival Heats Up with Star Duets, Emotional Moments and Rising New Talent
Sanremo, Italy – February 27, 2026 – The Sanremo Music Festival continued its 76th edition on Thursday with a night of captivating performances, emotional tributes, and the crowning of a new champion in the emerging artist category. The third evening of the festival, broadcast live from the Ariston Theatre, featured a highly anticipated duet between Italian icon Eros Ramazzotti and American superstar Alicia Keys, alongside appearances from Irina Shayk and a poignant message against youth violence.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the first-ever live performance together by Ramazzotti and Keys. The pair performed “L’Aurora/La Aurora,” a track from Ramazzotti’s latest album, Una Storia Importante, in both Italian and Spanish. While initial technical difficulties briefly halted the performance, the duo ultimately delivered a show-stopping rendition that ignited the Ariston Theatre. The evening wasn’t solely focused on established stars. Nicolò Filippucci was declared the winner of the New Proposals category with his song “Laguna.” Angelica Bove received both the Mia Martini Critics’ Award and the Lucio Dalla Press Room Award for her song “Mattone.”
Beyond the music, the festival addressed important social issues. A moving segment featured Paolo Sarullo, a young man left in a wheelchair after a violent assault, who delivered a powerful message against youth violence, urging forgiveness and calling for an end to aggression.
The festival also included lighter moments, with comedian Ubaldo Pantani, impersonating Lapo Elkann, providing comedic relief. Actress Irina Shayk made a glamorous appearance, playfully interacting with host Carlo Conti.
Veteran singer-songwriter Mogol was honored with a lifetime achievement award, receiving a standing ovation for his prolific career and contribution to Italian music.
