New Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten Receives Congratulations from India’s Modi
The Hague, Netherlands – India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Rob Jetten on Tuesday upon assuming the office of Prime Minister of the Netherlands, signaling a continued commitment to strengthening ties between the two nations. Jetten, 38, became the Netherlands’ youngest prime minister after being sworn in on Monday.
“Congratulations Mr. Rob Jetten on assuming office of the Prime Minister of the Netherlands,” Modi posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. “India and the Netherlands share an extensive relationship across diverse sectors. I look forward to working closely with you to add further momentum to the growing ties between our two countries and people.”
Jetten leads a coalition government comprised of his centrist D66 party, the Christian Democrats, and the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy.
The relationship between India and the Netherlands is significant, encompassing trade, technology, water management, and strategic cooperation. According to recent data, the Netherlands is among the top three largest foreign investors in India. This collaboration is particularly vital given the increasing global focus on sustainable development and innovative solutions in areas like water resource management – a field where the Netherlands holds considerable expertise.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs and Prime Minister Modi have consistently emphasized the importance of the relationship with the Netherlands, viewing it as a key partner in Europe. The exchange of congratulations underscores the ongoing diplomatic efforts to foster closer collaboration on issues of mutual interest.
