St. Charles, MO – Lindenwood Women’s Tennis Closes Out Fall Opener with Strong Performances

Lindenwood University’s women’s tennis team concluded its first competition of the fall season this weekend, facing off against SIUE and Washington University in St. Louis during the LU Dual. The Lions showcased promising form, securing several individual victories and demonstrating competitive spirit.

Friday’s matches saw Megan Caffin,Paola garcia,and Aisha Marchand each claim wins in singles play against SIUE. Caffin dominated in straight sets (6-3, 6-4), while Garcia also secured a straight-set victory (7-5, 6-2). In doubles action, lindenwood captured three of five matches. Michelle Trochez and Mathilde Humbert defeated Wash U’s Chloe Brisset and Hallie Jeffers 6-2. Humbert then paired with Caffin for another doubles win against Wash U, 7-5. garcia and Fabiana Labrador rounded out the doubles success with a 7-6 victory.

Saturday brought further triumphs. Garcia continued her strong performance, winning her second singles match of the competition against Wash U’s Maddie Morgan (7-6, 6-2).Sofia Dunisijevic also secured her first singles win, battling back from a first-set loss to defeat Wash U’s Telaya in a three-set thriller (2-6, 7-5, 10-7).

Paola Garcia led the Lions with a perfect 2-0 record in singles play, while Mathilde Humbert excelled in doubles, securing two victories.

Lindenwood will now prepare for the OVC Championships, scheduled to begin Friday, September 26th, with competition starting at 10:00 AM.The team’s performance this weekend provides a solid foundation as they look ahead to conference play and the challenges that lie ahead.
