Katsina State APC Rally Boosts Tinubu’s Support, Focuses on Grassroots Mobilization
Katsina, Nigeria – Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State convened a large-scale meeting this week, reaffirming their commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and outlining strategies for strengthened grassroots engagement. The gathering, held with representatives from all 34 Local Government Areas (LGAs), underscored the state’s historical significance in Nigerian politics and its continued support for the ruling party.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, who spearheaded the meeting, emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation for sustained development. “The strength of our party is key to sustaining development, especially considering the consistent support Katsina State continues to receive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Radda stated, acknowledging the administration’s ongoing investment in the state.
The meeting wasn’t simply a show of solidarity. It served as a platform to review party activities, assess ongoing projects, and bolster mobilization efforts ahead of key electoral events. Committees were established to monitor grassroots structures – known locally as “Yan Tara” – and evaluate the impact of initiatives undertaken by state, local, and federal governments.
Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal highlighted the Radda administration’s achievements over the past two and a half years, detailing projects implemented across all 34 LGAs and 361 wards. These include the recruitment of 7,325 teachers, scholarships for students in rural communities, and the implementation of AGILE education projects. Significant investment in agriculture, totaling nearly ₦70 billion, has led to the establishment of mechanization centers in each LGA, alongside the distribution of essential fertilizers and farm inputs.
Security improvements were also a key focus, with officials reporting over 11 months without major attacks, improved road access, and the reintegration of repentant bandits through community security initiatives like the Community Watch Corps.
The APC’s e-registration exercise was also prominently featured, with Governor Radda personally participating in his ward to encourage widespread adoption. The administration is providing motorcycles to facilitate the e-registration process and ensure effective delivery of President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” at the community level.
Former Governor Aminu Bello Masari inaugurated 34 “Renewed Hope Ambassadors’ Coordinators” to deepen grassroots engagement, while Kabir Ibrahim Masari, Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, praised the prevailing unity within Katsina State.
The event drew a broad spectrum of political figures, including Senators, National Assembly members, LGA chairmen, State House of Assembly members, and members of the State Executive Council. Former Deputy Governor Mannir Yakubu, and former Senator Abu Ibrahim were also in attendance.
This surge in political activity comes at a crucial time for Nigeria, as the Tinubu administration navigates economic challenges and seeks to consolidate its position ahead of future elections. Katsina State, with its substantial population and historical political influence, represents a key battleground for securing national support. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Katsina State has a population of over 7.8 million, making it one of the most populous states in Nigeria and a significant contributor to the nation’s electorate.
The APC’s focus on grassroots mobilization and project delivery reflects a broader strategy to address public concerns and demonstrate tangible benefits to citizens. The emphasis on security improvements is particularly relevant given the historical challenges faced by the region.
