Iran : Trump accepte de négocier après les frappes et la mort de militaires américains

Tensions escalate as US and Iran signal openness to talks amid fallout from recent attacks

Geneva, Switzerland – Following a period of heightened conflict that included a direct attack on Iranian soil ordered by US President Donald Trump, both Washington and Tehran are signaling a willingness to re-engage in negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program. The shift comes after two days of strikes within Iran reportedly resulted in the deaths of high-ranking Iranian officials, including Ayatollah Ali Jamenei.

Trump, speaking to The Atlantic, stated, “They want to talk, and I’ve agreed to talk, so I’ll be talking with them.” He added a pointed critique, suggesting Iranian leaders “should have done it before… they waited too long.” The President remained vague when pressed on the timing of potential talks, stating, “I can’t tell you that.”

The situation remains volatile. Trump acknowledged that some of the Iranian negotiators involved in recent discussions are no longer alive, stating, “Most of those people are no longer. Some of the people we were dealing with are no longer, because it was a big hit. They could have made a deal. They should have made it before. They got too smart.”

The US Central Command confirmed the deaths of three American service members in combat during the operation against Iran, with five more sustaining serious injuries. A further unspecified number suffered minor wounds.

Despite the ongoing military actions, there are glimmers of diplomatic hope. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi reportedly communicated to his Omani counterpart, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, that Tehran is open to “any serious effort to reduce tensions,” according to a statement released by the Omani Foreign Ministry.

Trump offered a grim assessment of the potential for internal unrest within Iran, stating, “That’s going to happen… knowing it’s very dangerous, knowing I’ve told everybody to stay where they are, I think right now it’s a very dangerous place. People are screaming with joy in the streets, but at the same time, a lot of bombs are falling.” He added, “People have been wanting to do this for 47 years. They’ve been killing people for 47 years, and now it’s come back on them.”

The recent escalation follows a period of stalled negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear program. The current situation represents a critical juncture, with the potential for further conflict or a renewed diplomatic effort to prevent a wider regional war.
