Iran Launches Retaliatory Strikes Across Gulf Following Attack on South Pars Gas Field

Doha, Qatar – Iran launched ballistic missile strikes targeting several Gulf nations on Thursday, causing significant damage to a key energy complex in Qatar, in response to an Israeli attack on its South Pars gas field. The escalating conflict raises concerns about regional stability and potential disruptions to global energy supplies.

Qatar’s state-owned petroleum company reported “widespread destruction” at its Ras Laffan gas complex following the Iranian attack. The strikes follow an earlier attack on the South Pars field, a vital energy resource shared with Qatar, which Iranian state media attributed to Israel.

The South Pars/North Dome field is the world’s largest natural gas condensate field, according to Wikipedia, underscoring the strategic importance of the region.

U.S. President Donald Trump issued a warning to Iran, stating that further attacks on Qatar would be met with a “massive” response from the United States. Trump clarified that the initial attack on Iran’s gas field was carried out by Israel, not the U.S., but threatened further action if Tehran continues its retaliatory measures.

Meanwhile, U.S. intelligence officials presented a contrasting assessment of the conflict to a Senate committee, stating that Iranian leadership remains largely intact after nearly three weeks of war. This contradicts President Trump’s earlier claims of success in the ongoing conflict.

The developments come amid other news, including the return of five members of the Iranian women’s football team to Iran after staging a silent protest in Australia.

This escalation in the Middle East also occurs as industries worldwide are increasingly impacted by Artificial Intelligence, including the recruitment process.
