Bonnier News Reports Strong 2025 Earnings, Driven by Digital Subscriptions
STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Bonnier News, one of Sweden’s leading news providers, announced a significant increase in earnings for 2025, reporting an EBITA of 1.08 billion Swedish krona (€101 million) – a 29% year-over-year increase. Revenue reached 10.9 billion krona (€1.02 billion), up 3% from the previous year, signaling a continued successful transformation of the media group.
The results highlight a strategic shift towards digital subscriptions, which grew by 14% in 2025. The company’s bundled subscription package, "+Allt," now boasts nearly 500,000 digital subscribers, contributing to increased subscription volumes and average prices. Over 1.1 million subscribers, including print readers, now have access to "+Allt."
“The reader revenue has grown steadily – the share of total revenue has increased from around 57% to 62% in the last three years, while at the same time that our total revenue has grown considerably,” a company statement relayed. Approximately half of the company’s reader revenue now comes from purely digital sources.
The positive results reflect a long-term transformation strategy initiated in 2016. Since then, Bonnier News’ total revenue has more than doubled from 4.7 billion krona (€418 million) to 10.9 billion krona (€1.02 billion).
Bonnier News’ portfolio includes major Swedish daily newspapers Dagens Nyheter, Expressen, and Dagens industri, alongside approximately 40 local newspapers spanning the country, from Helsingborgs Dagblad in the south to Örnsköldsviks Allehanda in the north.
The company is also actively pursuing growth through strategic partnerships and acquisitions. Late last year, Bonnier News acquired Zetland, a Danish membership-based news organization with an audio-focused model. The company also established a cross-ownership and partnership with Erna Media and integrated the digital news service Readly into its operations.
Beyond subscriptions and advertising, Bonnier News generates approximately 16% of its revenue from other streams, including logistics, printing, distribution, events, and data services.
Looking ahead, Bonnier News anticipates continued growth in 2026, citing increasing readership, engagement, and subscription numbers, as well as a potentially improving advertising market.
Bonnier News Group AB employs over 4,000 people, including around 2,000 journalists. The company is part of the larger Bonnier Group.
