Celebrities Mark Birthdays on St. Patrick’s Day
NEW YORK (UPI) — A diverse group of actors, musicians, athletes and historical figures share birthdays on March 17th, ranging from Hollywood icons to sporting legends.
Among those celebrating milestones this year is actor Kurt Russell, turning 75. Russell, known for his roles in films like “Escape from New York” and “The Thing,” continues to be a prominent figure in the entertainment industry.
Also marking a birthday is musician Billy Corgan, frontman of The Smashing Pumpkins, who turns 59. Corgan’s influential songwriting and distinctive voice have left an indelible mark on alternative rock.
The list of notable birthdays includes actor Rob Lowe, 62, and Gary Sinise, 71, both with decades-long careers in film and television. Fellow actors Mark Boone Junior (71), Vicki Lewis (66), Mathew St. Patrick (58), Yanic Truesdale (56), Natalie Zea (51), Brittany and Cynthia Daniel (both 50), and Morfydd Clark (37) also celebrate birthdays today.
The sporting world is represented by Mia Hamm, the celebrated soccer star, who turns 54. Olympic swimmer Katie Ledecky, 29, also joins the birthday celebrations.
The day also commemorates the births of figures from the past, including World Golf Hall of Fame member Bobby Jones (born 1902) and musician Nat King Cole (born 1919). The darker side of history is also remembered with the birthday of serial killer John Wayne Gacy (born 1942).
Literary circles acknowledge the birthday of writer William Gibson, 78, author of the groundbreaking science fiction novel Neuromancer. Fashion also marks the day with the remembrance of designer Alexander McQueen, born in 1969.
