Marc Maron has announced he will be releasing the final episode of his groundbreaking podcast, WTF with Marc Maronthis fall.
“16 years we’ve been doing this, and we’ve decided that we had a great run,” Maron said on the latest episode (via Deadline), which featured guest John Mulaney. “WTF is coming to an end. It’s our decision. We’ll have our final episode sometime in the fall.”
The comedian elaborated that he and producer Brendan McDonald were “tired” and “burnt out” from releasing new shows twice a week for nearly the entire run of the podcast. “This doesn’t mean I’m never going to do something like this again,” Maron added. “But for now, we’re just wrapping things up… It’s okay to try to start some other chapter in your life.”
Maron launched WTF in September 2009 and has since recorded more than 1,600 episodes featuring interviews with a vast array of guests, from President Barack Obama to Robin Williams. The latter episode with Williams became the first one-on-one podcast episode inducted into America’s National Recording Registry.
