Museveni Joins Regional Leaders in Arusha for East African Community Summit

Arusha, Tanzania – Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni arrived in Arusha today to participate in the 25th Ordinary Summit of the East African Community (EAC) Heads of State, a meeting focused on deepening regional integration and improving the lives of citizens across East Africa.

The summit’s theme, “Deepening Integration for Improved Livelihoods of EAC Citizens,” signals a renewed push for economic cooperation and enhanced collaboration among member states. Regional leaders will discuss progress on key integration pillars, including trade, infrastructure development, and economic transformation. Emerging regional priorities aimed at sustainable development and prosperity will also be addressed.

Museveni was welcomed upon arrival by a delegation of Tanzanian and Ugandan officials, including Tanzania’s Minister of Home Affairs, Patrobas Katambi, and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Dennis Londo. Also present were Dr. Samwel Shelukindo, Permanent Secretary of Tanzania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Uganda’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of Regional Affairs, John Mulimba.

The East African Community, comprised of eight nations, aims to foster economic, political, and social cooperation among its members. This summit underscores Uganda’s commitment to the EAC’s goals and the strengthening of regional ties.

The meeting is expected to review progress and address challenges in key areas vital to the region’s growth. Details of specific agenda items and anticipated outcomes will be released following the conclusion of the summit.
