Fayyaz is charged with many years of abuse by ex -wife Abida Raja and the couple’s four common children. The trial started in Oslo District Court on May 6.

In addition, Fayyaz is accused of repeatingly raping his ex -wife by holding her, tearing her clothes and turning her in the face and body.

Fayyaz denies criminal charges.

Philip Green, the prosecutor in the case, tells VG that the penalties reflect the seriousness of the case.

– The indictment applies to serious rape and abuse of Abida Raja throughout the marriage and gross abuse of their four children from birth. All the offenders are sustained serious mental injuries that have had and still have a major impact on their everyday lives.

Defender Javeed H. Shah believes there are several weaknesses in the prosecution’s presentation.

“It is a very strict penalty, and I think it is not in relation to the evidence in the case,” he told the newspaper.
