Indian Embassy, Jazeera Airways Coordinate Travel for Nationals Amid Gulf Flight Disruptions

KUWAIT CITY – The Indian Embassy in Kuwait is working with Jazeera Airways to help Indian citizens navigate significant disruptions to air travel across the Gulf, stemming from escalating regional tensions linked to the conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. The embassy’s efforts aim to facilitate the return of Indians stranded in Kuwait and ensure continued transit options for those traveling through the region.

The crisis began in late February, triggering widespread airspace closures and flight suspensions. Kuwait temporarily closed its airspace on February 28, halting all flights at Kuwait International Airport and impacting thousands of passengers. Jazeera Airways responded by diverting some services to Qaisumah International Airport in Saudi Arabia, allowing passengers to complete their journeys overland.

“The safety and well-being of the Indian community in Kuwait remains the embassy’s top priority,” stated Paramita Tripathi, India’s ambassador to Kuwait, following recent discussions with Jazeera Airways representatives. The embassy is focused on coordinating closely with airlines and Kuwaiti authorities to provide timely assistance and clear information to affected travelers.

Kuwait is home to an estimated 640,000 Indian expatriates working in sectors including healthcare, engineering, construction, and business. Reliable air connectivity is crucial for this population, not only for routine travel but also for emergencies.

The disruptions in Kuwait are part of a broader aviation crisis affecting the Middle East. Governments, including India, have been arranging special flights and emergency travel assistance for citizens stranded in affected countries. Hundreds of Indian nationals were recently evacuated from Qatar on such flights.

The Indian Embassy in Kuwait is maintaining constant contact with passengers, airlines, and local authorities, issuing regular advisories and urging citizens to rely on official information sources. Officials have pledged to continue working with airlines and government agencies until normal flight operations resume.
