U.S. Expedites Bomb Sale to Israel Amid Escalating Conflict with Iran

West Jerusalem – The United States Department of State has authorized the emergency sale of 12,000 1,000-pound bombs to Israel, circumventing standard congressional review procedures, as the conflict with Iran enters its eighth day. The contract, valued at approximately $151.8 million, was approved due to the “urgent nature” of the situation, according to a statement released Friday.

The decision comes as both Israel and Iran continue to exchange strikes, with both sides indicating further offensives are planned. The U.S. government stated the sale is intended to bolster Israel’s defense capabilities and deter regional threats, reinforcing its role as a key ally in the Middle East.

“This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a strategic regional partner,” the State Department said.

Concerns have been raised regarding the sustainability of a prolonged military campaign, with some experts questioning whether the U.S. and Israel possess sufficient munitions for an extended conflict. Tehran has so far dismissed calls for de-escalation.

The escalating conflict follows the Twelve-Day War between Iran and Israel in June 2025.

Reports indicate a significant civilian toll in Iran, with over 1,300 deaths reported, including the tragic loss of 168 students when a school in Minab was destroyed during initial strikes.

Recent reports from The Times of Israel detail a recent Iranian missile strike on Beit Shemesh, resulting in nine fatalities and over 40 injuries, with a synagogue and bomb shelter destroyed.
