May 29, 2025 – Lyric Rose Theatre Company is proud to announce the Nevada County premiere of Tony-award winning Best Musical Fun Home, directed by Carey McCray and Calum Grant, at The Nevada Theater now through June 14.

Fun Home is based on cartoonist Alison Bechdel’s Pulitzer-Prize-finalist graphic novel/memoir. It’s an eye-opening journey of self-discovery and an unflinching look at her father – the volatile, brilliant, one-of-a-kind man whose temperament and secrets defined her family and her life. As she digs deep to uncover the truth around the events leading up to his mysterious death, she moves between past and present, reliving her unique childhood growing up with her siblings in the family funeral home, her growing understanding of her own sexuality, and the looming, unspoken questions about her father’s hidden desires. Fun Home is a refreshingly honest, wholly original musical about seeing your parents through grown-up eyes, about figuring out who you are, and about coming to terms with the past that shaped you.

The incredibly talented cast and live orchestral band bring Jeanine Tesori’s complex and poignant music to stirring life. And Grant and McCray’s innovative multi-level set captures the chaos and complexity of the Bechdel family’s museum-like Fun Home.
