Lynchburg Hornets dominate Equestrian Competition, Prepare for Sewanee Showdown
LYNCHBURG, VA – the Lynchburg Hornets equestrian team delivered a stellar performance in their latest competition, securing key points in both Jumping and Flat disciplines. The team now sets its sights on an upcoming clash with Sewanee.
Mary Katherine Ragsdale shone in Jumping, achieving a score of 74 while riding Eddie. The Flat category saw a especially strong showing, led by Zemp who earned a team point with a leading score of 89 on Eragon. Abigail Devlin mirrored this success, also scoring an 89 on Balou, further bolstering the team’s position. Bellfield added to the Hornets’ winning streak with an remarkable 85 in Jumping, defeating her opponent. ella Ireland and Collier also contributed solid performances in Flat, posting scores of 80 and 78 respectively.
The Lynchburg Hornets equestrian program has a rich history of success within the national Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA). Equestrian competitions test riders’ skill in both Fences (Jumping) and Flatwork, demanding precision, athleticism, and a strong partnership between horse and rider.
