U.S.-Israel Offensive Against Iran Enters Second Day, Trump Predicts Four-Week Duration
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – The joint U.S.-Israeli military operation against Iran is progressing “ahead of schedule,” according to former U.S. President Donald Trump, even as reports surface of casualties among American service members. The offensive, dubbed “Epic Fury,” entered its second day Sunday with no immediate end in sight.
Trump, speaking to the British Daily Mail, estimated the operation could last “more or less four weeks,” acknowledging Iran’s size and the intensity of the campaign. He later told CNBC the operation was moving “faster than expected.”
The offensive began Saturday with a strike that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Trump confirmed to the Daily Mail, along with approximately 48 members of Iran’s leadership. He stated the operation was unfolding “better than expected,” adding, “I think it’s going according to plan, beyond the fact that we eliminated all of their leaders, much more than we thought.”
The strikes have already triggered retaliatory attacks from Iran, resulting in the deaths of three American service members, with casualties also reported in the United Arab Emirates, Israel, and Kuwait. Trump acknowledged the possibility of further American casualties, stating, “Unfortunately, it’s something we expected could happen.”
The escalation marks a significant shift in regional dynamics, raising concerns about a wider conflict. The U.S. and Israel have not yet released detailed information regarding the scope of the operation or specific targets beyond the confirmation of Khamenei’s death.
This is a developing story. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
