Les experts notent la performance de l’équipe et soulignent l’importance des tactiques de l’entraîneur dans ce résultat. la suite ? Le prochain défi sera contre l’Inter Miami CF.

As the 2025 MLS season nears its intermediary, the Columbus Crew were able to salvage a point from their midweek contest against Nashville SC, coming from behind twice to end the game in a 2-2 draw against the Blue & Gold. Diego Rossi and Jacen Russell-Rowe tallied the goals for the MLS original Club, but the draw extends their winless streak to five games.

Sam Surridge got the game going in just the second minute, getting on the end of a cross from Patrick Yazbek that deflected off of Malte Amundsen towards the backpost. Surridge met the air lifted ball with his left foot putting it past Nicholas Hagen to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

“I don’t know,” said head coach Wilfried Nancy. “To be honest, the goal changed the momentum becuase it was the beginning of the game. After two minutes to concede a goal; Again, we could have done better. They started well to keep the ball for a few minutes — one or two minutes, something like that. We could have won the ball a bit higher. We didn’t do it. The cross, deflection — if there is no deflection, we have the ball — and goal. It didn’t change the mindset because the mindset was to score a goal.”

The energy from 20,022 spectators succumbed to the early goal, making the first half less entertaining as time ticked on.

Columbus had a few chances after to grab an equalizer, but couldn’t get past Joe Willis and the Nashville defense.

The visitors nearly doubled their lead in the 11th minute when Hany Mukhtar found himself alone in on goal, but put his ensuing attempt just wide of the far post. Just one minute later, Max Arfsten had his own shot go wide of the frame at the other end.

The first half was more of the same, with both teams attempting to punish the other but nothing would come to fruition.

Columbus came out of the halftime with more hunger and dictatorship, making Nashville play to their liking.

In the 69th minute, Steven Moreira had his shot from distance saved by a diving Willis, but the rebound fell to Diego Rossi who hammered it home with his left foot to bring the game back level and scoring his eighth goal of the season. After starting the second half on the front foot, the reward became bitter sweet when the scoreboard inside Lower.com Field read 1-1.

“We had the momentum. We created many chances. We attacked the box a lot. We attacked in the middle, around and so on. We had really the momentum so after that, Steven ecided to shoot and we follow. We knew that we have to follow, and good for the team and good to come back,” said Nancy.

“Yeah Steven [Moreira] made a shot, and I followed the play, and I got that chance to score,” the Uruguayan forward said in his post-match press conference.

The energy that one thought was gone soon came back, but made a quick exodus in the 78th minute.

Nashville earned a throw-in deep in their attacking zone, much to the chagrin of multiple Crew players and fans who thought the throw should’ve gone the other way. A quick restart saw Jacob Shaffelburg dribble towards Nicholas Hagen before laying the ball off to Mukhtar who tapped in the easy shot to restore Nashville’s one-goal lead.

But alas, the Columbus Crew did not wave the white flag.

Jacen Russell-Rowe found himself inside the 18-yard box and on the end of a ground pass from Amundsen to put the ball off of the post and past Willis to level the game yet again at 2-2, and earning the point at home.

Winless streak, but still good?

As mentioned before, the draw extends the Crew’s winless streak to five games. However, the team currently sit in fourth, just two points off of second place and rivals FC Cincinnati. With 28 points through 16 matches, the good start this season is tied for the Club’s fourth-most points through 16 matches since 2004.

Goals, goals, goals

With two goals, the Black & Gold have now registered a league-best 51 multi-goal games in regular season play since head coach Wilfried Nancy took over in 2023.
